The SOCSKSARGEN Librarians Association, Inc. (SOCOLA) held its 2025 seminar and general assembly on July 17, 2025, at the SMC Hall, Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), City of Koronadal, South Cotabato. Librarians, including senior members and pillars of the organization from across South Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, and General Santos, attended the event. Mrs. Marites I. Huqueriza, Ms. Jennie C. Lorono, Mrs. Myra T. Morta, Mrs. Destine M. Salvatierra, Mrs. Jennifer A. Tidula, and Mrs. Teodora L. Tuburan—librarians from NDMU's main campus—participated in the event.

The theme for this year's general assembly and seminar was "Guardians of Heritage: The Role of Libraries in Sustaining Cultural Identity and Indigenous Knowledge." It emphasized the significance of libraries in safeguarding cultural heritage. The talk by Dr. Jun Y. Badie expanded on the theme and stressed the crucial roles of librarians in protecting indigenous knowledge, including developing collections and promoting awareness and use of resources. Dr. Badie also addressed the importance of collaboration with other libraries and organizations to strengthen preservation initiatives both regionally and globally.

In addition to hosting the event, NDMU had two librarians from its Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) serving in key positions in the organization. Mrs. Arianne J. Bilbao, the treasurer, and Mrs. Gerlie Mae V. Queroquero, SOCOLA's secretary, were instrumental in organizing the event. This reflects NDMU’s commitment to professional development and cultural preservation in the library sector.
