NDMU Strengthens International Research Engagement Through Advanced Scientific Laboratory Exposure at Kasetsart University, Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand - Advancing its commitment to academic excellence, scientific innovation, and internationalization, Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), through its Master of Science in Chemistry delegation headed by Dr. Noemi Silva, visited Kasetsart University, Thailand, as part of the International Educational Exposure Program (IEEP).

The academic engagement provided an opportunity to explore the university's advanced research infrastructure, gain insights into international laboratory practices, and examine the role of sophisticated scientific instrumentation in contemporary chemical research.
Exploring World-Class Scientific Instrumentation at SciKU Equipment Center
A major highlight of the visit was the exploration of the SciKU Equipment Center, a specialized research facility under Kasetsart University's Faculty of Science that provides access to advanced analytical instrumentation and scientific services.
The center features an extensive portfolio of technologies supporting chemical analysis, molecular characterization, structural elucidation, and materials investigation.

Among its notable analytical capabilities are 500 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), and Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (QTOF-MS).
These technologies enable researchers to investigate complex chemical compositions, identify unknown compounds, quantify trace substances, and characterize molecular structures with high analytical precision.
The delegation also gained insights into the center's capabilities in Field-Emission Transmission Electron Microscopy (FE-TEM), Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, Elemental Analysis, and Surface Area and Porosity Characterization, highlighting the integration of chemical analysis with advanced imaging and materials science.
Strengthening Research Accessibility and Scientific Collaboration
Beyond its advanced instrumentation, the SciKU Equipment Center demonstrates Kasetsart University's commitment to supporting scientific investigation through specialized laboratory services.
Its analytical capabilities serve diverse research applications, including chemistry, biotechnology, environmental science, agriculture, pharmaceutical development, and materials engineering.
The availability of specialized analytical services to academic researchers and external clients reflects an institutional approach that promotes research accessibility, interdisciplinary engagement, and the efficient utilization of scientific resources.
For the NDMU delegation, this model provided valuable perspectives on how centralized laboratory facilities can strengthen institutional research productivity and support collaborative scientific initiatives.

Discovering Scientific Heritage at the Inspiration Center
Complementing the technical laboratory exposure, the delegation visited the Inspiration Center of Kasetsart University's Faculty of Science, which highlights the institution's scientific heritage, academic milestones, and research achievements.
The exhibits offered insights into the university's development as an academic and research institution, emphasizing the importance of scientific curiosity, sustained innovation, and institutional commitment to knowledge generation.
The experience demonstrated how scientific advancement is shaped not only by technological capabilities but also by a culture that values discovery, academic excellence, and continuous learning.
Bridging International Research Practices and Graduate Education
The academic visit provided a meaningful platform for connecting classroom-based instrumentation concepts with practical research applications.
Exposure to advanced laboratory technologies encouraged the graduate students to examine the importance of analytical method selection, instrumental capabilities, scientific precision, and research reproducibility.
More importantly, the engagement broadened their understanding of international research environments and highlighted the potential of advanced instrumentation in strengthening thesis investigations and future scientific endeavors.
Advancing NDMU's Vision for Global Research Excellence
The visit to Kasetsart University underscores NDMU's continuing efforts to develop globally competent, research-oriented scholars equipped to address emerging scientific challenges.

By integrating international academic exposure into graduate education, NDMU strengthens opportunities for experiential learning, scientific knowledge exchange, and the exploration of innovative research methodologies.
More than an international academic visit, the engagement represents a meaningful step toward connecting local research aspirations with global scientific capabilities.
Through initiatives such as the IEEP, NDMU reaffirms its commitment to advancing graduate education, cultivating scientific excellence, and inspiring researchers who can transform knowledge into innovation and meaningful contributions to society.
