Notre Dame of Marbel University | September 2024
The GreenScape 2024 celebration once again bloomed with purpose and passion as Notre Dame of Marbel University, through the Peace Builders Organization (PBO), held its yearly education, faith, culture, and environment program—a tradition that strengthens the university’s commitment to environmental stewardship and holistic peacebuilding.
This month-long celebration was filled with transformative and creative activities such as Poetree Sessions, Green Talks, and Tree Planting Events—all designed to nurture ecological awareness, cultural appreciation, and faith-based action among students and partner communities.
Guided by the Community Extension Pillar of the Peace Builders Organization, headed by Mr. Cyrus Lee Dacumos, GreenScape 2024 culminated with the GreenScape Community Extension themed “Faith to Foliage: Nurturing Young Minds.” The culminating event gathered students, alumni, faculty, and community partners to reflect on how faith and education intertwine in caring for creation.
Gratitude was extended to Ma’am Vivian Genovia Sandigan, Principal II of TCES and proud NDMU alumna, for serving as partner school; the Lutayan Municipal Police Station for ensuring safety and order; Sir Reinhurt Pope Cartagena, SMC Club Moderator, for logistical support; and esteemed alumni speakers Philip Jay Leano, CHRA, and Mr. Jasuary Bantas, for sharing their valuable insights.
Acknowledgment was also given to student leaders, including Mr. John Ryan Huqueriza (SSG President), Mr. Noel Tanco Jr. (CEACSC Governor), Mr. Paul Dennis Arnaiz (CBASC Governor), and Mr. Arzel John Cause (CEDSC Governor), for their assistance in providing materials and manpower throughout the event.
Special thanks were likewise extended to all PBO Pillars—Environmental Justice, Peace Initiatives, Interfaith Dialogue, Community Extension, and Media Promotion and Mobilization, headed by Ms. Kathleen Denise Cabuga—for their collaborative efforts that made the event a success.
More than just a campaign, GreenScape 2024 stands as a yearly educational movement that celebrates the intersection of faith, culture, and environmental consciousness. It embodies NDMU’s vision of forming students who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible and ecologically mindful—champions of sustainability and peace within and beyond the university.
