The Civil Engineering faculty and students of Notre Dame of Marbel University – College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computing (NDMU–CEAC) spearheaded a field survey and feasibility assessment on August 21, 2025, at the Integrated Learning School (ILC), Sitio Tinuos, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. The activity aimed to explore the possibility of sourcing water for a reservoir system that could provide a sustainable supply for both the school and the surrounding community.
The team was composed of CEAC Acting Dean, Engr. Rolly S. Tambe, MSCE, faculty members Engr. Melchor M. Famisan, D.Eng.-CE, Engr. Mark Daniel B. Silva, MPhil, MSCE, and Engr. Wimar Bless M. Ramping, RMP, with support from ECE faculty Engr. Eriberto B. Hallarsis, MIM. Joining them were Electrical and Civil Engineering students, Mr. Ricky Niel T. Lamputi, Mr. Alfriend Dhoniel E. Egaran and Mr. John Vincent B. Gabiazon, who played a hands-on role in the technical survey. The activity was facilitated by Dr. Noemi Silva.
The survey team conducted topographic mapping, identification of natural water sources, and initial technical assessments. They also engaged with teachers and local residents who shared their daily struggles in accessing clean and reliable water.
Preliminary findings indicated the presence of potential water sources in the area that could be developed into a community reservoir. Once implemented, the project is expected to improve sanitation, health, and overall quality of education at ILC, while also providing benefits to the wider community.
This initiative underscores NDMU’s commitment to service and social responsibility, as Civil Engineering faculty and students apply their technical expertise to address pressing community needs. More than just an academic exercise, the activity demonstrated how engineering education can bring practical solutions that transform lives in Lake Sebu.
