Three Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) were named First Runner-Up in the Search for Koronadal’s Local Tax Master 2026, held on October 28, 2026, at the City Hall Lobby, New City Hall, Koronadal City. The team competed against four other colleges in a quiz bowl on the 2024 Revenue Code of the City of Koronadal.

The quiz bowl, now on its third run, was organized by the City Government of Koronadal through the Office of the City Treasurer as part of the Tax Awareness Campaign under Article 59, Section 236 of the 2024 Revenue Code. The event aims to build tax awareness among the youth and a better understanding of local taxation, fiscal responsibility and revenue generation.

Participating teams answered multiple-choice and identification questions across easy, moderate and difficult rounds. The questions covered the local taxation system, business registration procedures and other provisions of the local Revenue Code.

NDMU was represented by MaryLord Apaitan and Princess Sophia Catuiran, both fourth-year BSA students, and Excelle Pacifico Gonzales, a third-year BSA student. They were coached by Krystianne Paul A. De Pedro, CPA, MBA. Their finish earns NDMU a plaque of recognition from the City Government, and the contestants receive medals, certificates and cash prizes. The result continues NDMU’s showing in the competition, with the university placing among the top three in all three runs of the quiz bowl.
