On April 28, 2026, students from the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computing (CEAC) of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) conducted an educational visit to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) in Thailand. The visit was led by CEAC Dean, Engr. Rolly S. Tambe, together with faculty members, Engr. Victorino R. Tobias Jr. (ECE Faculty) and Mr. Vince Marc Sabado (CSD Program Coordinator). The activity aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and exposure to space technology, geoinformatics, and their practical applications in various fields.

GISTDA serves as Thailand’s national space agency, focusing on satellite development, remote sensing, and geospatial information systems. It plays a significant role in utilizing space technology for environmental monitoring, disaster risk reduction, and national development.
During the visit, students from the programs of Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electronics Engineering explored Space Inspirium, an interactive space learning center developed by GISTDA in Si Racha, Chonburi. Through immersive exhibits and simulations, students gained insights into satellite systems, space exploration, and emerging technological innovations.
Meanwhile, Civil Engineering students were given a specialized tour of GISTDA’s operational and control facilities through the GALAXI Design and Simulation Center of the Satellite Assembly, Integration, and Testing Center. They observed how satellite data and advanced technologies are built and used to monitor weather patterns, support drone operations, and assist in disaster management and infrastructure planning. These applications highlight the importance of geospatial data in addressing real-world engineering challenges.
The educational visit provided CEAC students with valuable hands-on learning experiences and a deeper appreciation of how their respective fields contribute to advancements in science and technology. It also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in solving global and environmental issues.
Overall, the visit to GISTDA was an enriching and inspiring experience that broadened the students’ perspectives and strengthened NDMU’s commitment to experiential and globally oriented education.
