NDMU Honors’ Society Convenes General Assembly, Welcomes New Scholars and Sets Course for Academic Year 2026–2027.

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Honors’ Society Club of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) successfully conducted its General Assembly on August 4 at the BRC Convention Hall, bringing together student scholars, officers, and members for an afternoon of orientation, recognition, and organizational planning.
The Honors’ Society Club is one of the University’s premier academic organizations, composed of students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and scholarly excellence. Membership is granted to students who meet the qualifications set forth in the organization’s constitution, including first-year students who obtained a score of 110 or higher in the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) during the University Entrance Examination, as well as students who have been recognized in the Dean’s List for at least one semester of an academic year. The organization serves as a community of high-achieving students committed to fostering academic excellence, leadership, service, and holistic development while upholding the values and standards of the University.
Beyond recognizing academic achievement, the Honors’ Society also serves as a breeding ground for NDMU’s academic varsity teams, preparing and mobilizing talented students to represent the University in various academic, intellectual, and leadership competitions. Members are often tapped to participate in on-campus and off-campus quizzes, debates, research conferences, academic contests, leadership summits, and other scholastic engagements at the local, regional, and national levels.
The assembly formally opened with attendance and preliminaries, followed by the opening remarks of Mark Edzon A. Bello, CPA, MBA, CMITAP, Honors’ Society Moderator. In his message, Bello emphasized the importance of maintaining academic excellence while cultivating leadership, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility as student scholars.
One of the highlights of the gathering was the Introduction and Acknowledgement of New Members, where newly admitted scholars were formally welcomed into the organization. The activity provided an opportunity for members to become acquainted with fellow scholars and gain a deeper understanding of the club’s mission, vision, and objectives.
Following this, Francheska Ojoy, Honors’ Society Secretary, led the Introduction of Honors’ Society Officers, presenting the student leaders who will spearhead the organization's initiatives and activities throughout the academic year.
To orient members on organizational policies and expectations, Ameerah A. Galmak - Undersecretary, delivered a presentation on the club’s Constitution and By-Laws (CBL), membership guidelines, and sanctions. The discussion underscored the importance of accountability, active participation, and adherence to the standards expected of Honors’ Society members.
Meanwhile, Shyra Rose Guanga, Honors’ Society President, presented the organization’s proposed programs and activities for the academic year. The presentation outlined plans focused on academic enrichment, leadership development, community engagement, and student empowerment, all geared toward enhancing the overall growth and contribution of Honors’ Society members within and beyond the University.
The program concluded with the closing remarks of President Guanga, who encouraged members to uphold the values of scholarship, integrity, and service while actively participating in the organization’s initiatives and representing the University with excellence.
The General Assembly served as a meaningful platform for welcoming new members, strengthening camaraderie among scholars, and setting the direction of the Honors’ Society Club as it continues to foster a culture of academic excellence and leadership at Notre Dame of Marbel University.
