As part of the International Educational Tour 2026 in Thailand, students and faculty members from the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computing visited one of Thailand’s most iconic architectural landmarks—the Sanctuary of Truth. The educational activity formed part of the academic and cultural immersion program participated in by 65 delegates composed of students from the BSCE, BSCpE, BSECE, BSCS, and BSIT programs, faculty members, and tour coordinators during their Thailand Educational Tour held from April 27 to May 2, 2026.

Towering majestically beside the sea, the Sanctuary of Truth immediately impressed the students with its intricate wooden carvings, towering spires, and extraordinary craftsmanship. Considered one of Thailand’s most remarkable architectural achievements, the structure provided the participants with an unforgettable learning experience that combined culture, spirituality, engineering, and artistry.

Inside the sanctuary, the students observed the detailed wooden sculptures and symbolic carvings that reflected philosophical, cultural, and spiritual themes deeply rooted in Thai tradition. The solemn and awe-inspiring atmosphere allowed the participants to appreciate not only the beauty of the structure but also the cultural significance embedded within every detail of the masterpiece.

Beyond its cultural value, the sanctuary also became a meaningful educational site for the engineering and architecture students. Built primarily from wood and constructed using advanced traditional techniques without relying heavily on conventional metal nails, the structure demonstrated exceptional engineering precision and craftsmanship. The interconnected wooden components showcased how structural stability, durability, and artistic creativity can work together harmoniously in architectural design.

For the Civil Engineering students, the visit served as a real-world example of the integration of engineering principles with heritage and artistic expression. The sanctuary illustrated how traditional construction techniques remain relevant in creating sustainable and timeless structures. Students also gained insights into material behavior, structural detailing, and the importance of preserving cultural identity through architecture.

The visit to the Sanctuary of Truth reinforced the educational objectives of the Thailand tour by allowing students to witness firsthand how infrastructure, culture, history, and innovation can coexist in a single masterpiece. The experience inspired the participants to value not only modern technological advancements but also the enduring importance of cultural preservation and creative design in shaping future infrastructure and architectural development.

Through this international educational experience, Notre Dame of Marbel University continues to strengthen its mission of producing globally aware, culturally grounded, and industry-ready graduates equipped with both technical competence and a deeper appreciation of humanity and heritage.
