Job Description:
The Kitchen Helper supports kitchen operations by assisting the cook with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organizing supplies, and ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in basic food preparation (washing, peeling, chopping, portioning ingredients).
Wash, sanitize, and store kitchen utensils, tools, and equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and storage spaces.
Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries of food and supplies.
Dispose of waste properly and ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
Support cooks during peak hours by delivering ingredients and organizing workstations.
Follow food safety guidelines and proper handling of kitchen equipment.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the House Manager.
Job Specification:
Education & Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent (preferred, but not always required).
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Certification in food handling and hygiene is an advantage.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an advantage but not always required (entry-level candidates are welcome).
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic food preparation skills (washing, chopping, peeling).
Knowledge of kitchen equipment use and maintenance.
Strong attention to cleanliness and safety.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Reliable and punctual.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Flexible and adaptable to varying tasks.
Strong sense of hygiene and attention to detail.
