Job Description:

The Kitchen Helper supports kitchen operations by assisting the cook with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organizing supplies, and ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in basic food preparation (washing, peeling, chopping, portioning ingredients).

  • Wash, sanitize, and store kitchen utensils, tools, and equipment.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and storage spaces.

  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries of food and supplies.

  • Dispose of waste properly and ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards.

  • Support cooks during peak hours by delivering ingredients and organizing workstations.

  • Follow food safety guidelines and proper handling of kitchen equipment.

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the House Manager.

 

Job Specification:

 

Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (preferred, but not always required).

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Certification in food handling and hygiene is an advantage.


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an advantage but not always required (entry-level candidates are welcome).

  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.

  • Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic food preparation skills (washing, chopping, peeling).

  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment use and maintenance.

  • Strong attention to cleanliness and safety.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

  • Reliable and punctual.

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Flexible and adaptable to varying tasks.

  • Strong sense of hygiene and attention to detail.
