Representatives from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea, the Philippines, and Japan will converge for the 23rd General Chapter, bringing with them a vivid mosaic of local experiences that will spotlight the Marist charism in Asia.

Among the delegates will be seasoned educators, formation ministers, and pastoral leaders whose ministries will reflect long years of service in schools, parishes, formation houses, and community outreach programs.

Delegates from East Asia: Witnesses of service and formation

Jacobo Song, FMS — Delegate, East Asia

With extensive experience in South Korea’s social and educational ministries, Brother Cobo has worked in health care, technical education, and support services for persons with disabilities. He has served on the Korea District Council and the East Asia Provincial Council, coordinated the Korea–Japan sector, and accompanied postulants and novices—bringing a vital perspective on formation and social ministry.

Rommel Cudal Ocasiones, FMS— Delegate, East Asia

A committed educator and formator in the Philippines, Brother Rommel’s work spans classroom teaching, school leadership, mission coordination, and parish ministry. He currently participates in formation ministry in General Santos City, accompanying young men discerning a Marist vocation and helping shape the next generation of Marist brothers

Allan J. De Castro, FMS— Provincial, East Asia Provincial

Appointed Provincial in 2022 and reconfirmed for a second term in 2024, Brother Allan brings a global outlook shaped by his ministry in the Philippines and France. His background in education, formation, and service with marginalized youth—together with his experience in intercultural Marist communities—positions him to guide the province’s contributions to the General Chapter’s discernment.

The East-Asia delegation reflects how the Marist mission adapts to local needs while staying true to its vision—accompanying the young, serving the marginalized, and forming leaders. Their witness, rooted in education and community life, brings valuable lessons from Asia to the global Marist dialogue on vocation, mission, and the future of religious life at the 23rd General Chapter.
