Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), through the University Library, the Books and Information Technology Society (BITS) Club, and the Community Extension Service/Center for Peace and Environment Office, launched a community extension initiative at the Lake Sebu Municipal Library (Gono gel Semfala) on October 16, 2026.

As part of its mission to promote accessible information, inclusive education, and lifelong learning, NDMU donated three complete computer sets and various office supplies. The team also assisted with organizing the library’s collections and improving its space to create a more orderly, welcoming environment for library users. These efforts aim to strengthen the library’s resources, enhance daily operations, and expand learning opportunities for children, students, teachers, and other members of the TAU S’BU community.

With this initiative, NDMU strives to extend education’s impact beyond the university by empowering local libraries as vital hubs for reading, digital literacy, information access, and community learning. This partnership further demonstrates the University’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to building stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable communities through collaboration and volunteerism.

The LGU–Lake Sebu, led by Municipal Mayor Hon. Antonio G. Fungan, Jr., together with Municipal Tourism Officer Dr. Jennifer B. Tupas, Library Custodian Sir Reybert Lasig, and the municipal library staff, expressed their sincere appreciation to the NDMU community—especially library personnel Jennifer A. Tidula, RL, MLIS; Pearl Joy P. Villanueva, RL, MLIS; Destine M. Salvatierra, RL, MALS; Mrs. Marites I. Huqueriza, RL, MLIS; Ian Paul C. Oliveros; Ryan A. Aguilar; and the BITS Club students—for their generosity, dedication, and valuable contributions to the initiative.

Through meaningful partnerships and community-focused service, NDMU continues to transform its commitment to education into real action—bringing knowledge closer to communities, strengthening local library services, and fostering opportunities for lifelong learning.
