NDMU Honors Former University President Br. Eugene Pius R. Tajo, FMS with Prestigious Pro Deo et Patria Award

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Former Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) President Br. Eugene Pius R. Tajo, FMS was honored with the prestigious Pro Deo et Patria Award during the 2026 Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) National Convention, held from September 22 to 25, 2026, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The Pro Deo et Patria Award is among the highest recognitions conferred by CEAP, honoring individuals whose lives and work exemplify outstanding dedication to God, country, and the mission of Catholic education. The award celebrates educators and leaders whose contributions have significantly advanced faith formation, values education, and service to the Church and society.

A respected Marist Brother, educator, and administrator, Br. Tajo holds a special place in the history of Notre Dame of Marbel University. He served as the University's President from 1989 to 1993 and became NDMU's first University President following the institution's elevation from college to university status in 1992. His leadership helped guide the University through a transformative period, strengthening its commitment to academic excellence, Catholic identity, and Marist educational values.

Beyond NDMU, Br. Tajo's decades of service have left a lasting impact on Catholic education and the Marist mission in the Philippines.
