NDMU Formally Presents Commissioned Research for the Commission on Population and Development Region XII Advancing the Empowerment of Adolescent Mothers in Koronadal City

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) officially conducted and presented its commissioned research to the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region XII on March 23, 2026, focusing on advancing the empowerment of adolescent mothers in Koronadal City.


Titled “From Social Protection to Empowerment: A Case Study on the Participation in the ‘Pagkalinga sa Kabataang Magulang at Kanilang mga Anak’ Program of Adolescent Mothers and the Experiences of its Implementers in Koronadal City, Region XII,” the research was carried out and presented by Dr. Wilter C. Friales, NDMU Director for Student Affairs and Development/Quality Assurance, Admissions, Promotions, and Scholarships, together with Dr. Shiela B. Roma, Director of the NDMU Research and Publication Center.


The presentation was attended by Desiree Concepcion U. Garganian, Regional Director of CPD Region XII; City Population Officer Janet T. Demonteverde; and personnel from the City Population Office of Koronadal, highlighting the collaborative efforts between national and local agencies in supporting young parents and their children.


The study examined adolescent mothers’ participation in the “Pagkalinga sa Kabataang Magulang at Kanilang mga Anak” program and explored the experiences of its implementers. Its findings aim to guide policies and interventions that move beyond social protection toward sustainable empowerment and development.
