NDMU Dominates National DevTalk Mindanao 2026, Sends Two Champions to National Competition

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) achieved a remarkable double victory at DevTalk Mindanao 2026, with two Marista students emerging as champions in their respective categories and securing berths in the upcoming national finals.

Representing NDMU in the English Medium category, Krizna Zynne T. Camilo, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, was crowned Champion under the mentorship of Aldrin Juanico. In the Cebuano Medium category, Nyñah L. Gamolo, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work student, likewise claimed the Championship title under the guidance of Karen Umadhay.

Hosted by the CARD MRI Development Institute (CMDI) in Tagum City, DevTalk Mindanao 2026 gathered student representatives from colleges and universities across the region in a public speaking and development communication competition focused on the theme, "The Role of Education in Ending Poverty in the Philippines."

The competition challenged participants to deliver original speeches that demonstrated not only effective communication skills but also meaningful insights into development issues and poverty alleviation. Contestants were evaluated based on content, speech development, effectiveness, delivery, language appropriateness, and correctness.

Camilo and Gamolo distinguished themselves among the region's top student speakers, showcasing eloquence, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of education's transformative role in society. Their victories earned them championship honors and the opportunity to represent Mindanao in the DevTalk National Finals, scheduled on March 20, 2027, in Tagum City.

The dual championship reflects NDMU's continuing commitment to academic excellence, leadership formation, and social responsibility. It also highlights the University's dedication to developing students who can communicate ideas that inspire action and contribute to nation-building.
