In response to the persistent challenge of literacy and reading difficulties among students in the Philippines, Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) continues its ongoing initiative to enhance reading skills in DepEd schools for the 2nd semester of Academic Year 2023-2024.
The program, a collaborative effort under the NSTP-LTS Reading Intervention Program, involves NSTP-LTS facilitators and class officer-representatives, ensuring student engagement and effective classroom support. This ongoing program reflects NDMU’s sustained commitment to improving literacy among learners.
Headed by Dr. Wilter Friales, Ph.D., the NDMU team successfully conducted a meeting with DepEd school heads and Reading Coordinator, Dr. Richard Moral, Jr., to finalize strategies for implementing the intervention programs. The discussions focused on tailoring reading activities to address specific learning gaps and ensuring smooth coordination between NDMU volunteers and DepEd educators.
This initiative is further strengthened through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with DepEd, formalizing the university’s ongoing commitment to improve literacy and reading outcomes among learners. Through this continuing program, NDMU seeks not only to assist students academically but also to instill a culture of reading and learning that extends beyond the classroom.
With this ongoing partnership, NDMU demonstrates its dedication to addressing one of the country’s pressing educational challenges, fostering both academic growth and a love for reading among Filipino students.
