The Coastal Stewardship and Mangrove Adaptation Project was formally launched through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing held at Cinconiñas, marking a unified effort to strengthen environmental stewardship among student organizations of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU).

Proposed and spearheaded by Franchesca Ylla Guanga, PBO President for Academic Year 2024–2025, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to the protection and preservation of coastal ecosystems, with a strong focus on sustainable mangrove conservation and environmental adaptation efforts aimed at promoting long-term ecological resilience.

The project will be implemented by the NDMU Peacebuilders Organization (PBO), in collaboration with the NDMU Supreme Student Government (SSG), the NDMU Philippine Society of Medical Technology Students (PHISMETS), and various other student organizations across the university, from the Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) up to the college level.

Under her leadership, multiple student groups united to support the adaptation and stewardship of the designated coastal area for institutional environmental action.

University stakeholders highlighted that the project demonstrates the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges, particularly in safeguarding mangrove ecosystems that serve as natural protection against coastal degradation and climate-related risks.

Through this initiative, NDMU continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability, environmental awareness, and community-driven conservation programs.
