Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gardener / Ground Maintenance Staff to maintain and beautify the outdoor areas of our retreat house. The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of gardens, lawns, pathways, and outdoor facilities, ensuring a serene and well-maintained environment for our guests. The ideal candidate must have experience in horticulture, landscaping, and outdoor maintenance, along with a strong work ethics and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:

• Garden & Landscape Maintenance: Plant, water, prune, weed, and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.

• Lawn Care: Mow, edge, fertilize, aerate, and water lawns regularly to maintain a lush and tidy appearance.

• Grounds Upkeep: Maintain pathways, driveways, outdoor furniture, fences, and other outdoor structures.

• Irrigation Management: Operate and maintain irrigation systems; troubleshoot and repair as needed.

• Pest & Disease Control: Monitor plants for pests and diseases; apply appropriate treatments in accordance with safety guidelines.

• Equipment Maintenance: Use and maintain gardening tools and equipment properly; report any repairs or replacements needed.

• Seasonal Tasks: Prepare gardens and outdoor areas for seasonal changes, including planting, mulching, and snow removal if applicable.

• Environmental Care: Practice environmentally sustainable gardening techniques; compost organic waste.

• Safety & Compliance: Follow safety procedures when handling chemicals, tools, and equipment.

• Other Duties: Assist with outdoor event setups or related tasks as required.

Job Specification:

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance preferred.

• Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping techniques.

• Ability to operate gardening tools and machinery safely.

• Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.

• Attention to detail and pride in maintaining attractive outdoor spaces.

• Strong work ethics, reliability, and punctuality.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Certification or training in horticulture, landscaping, or related fields is a plus.

• Prior experience in a similar setting (retreat, park, estate, etc.) is advantageous.
