The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of South Cotabato, led by Rolly Doane C. Aquino, RN, MPA, MMNSA, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), successfully conducted a Basic First Aid Training for Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) students last April 13, 2024, at the NDMU campus, City of Koronadal.
The training was organized as part of the students’ course EDPPE 112: Emergency Preparedness and Response Management and marked the first session of a five-Saturday series running from April 13 to May 11, 2024. The upcoming sessions will cover Basic Life Support (April 20 and 27) and Water Survival (May 4), culminating in a simulation drill on May 11, featuring earthquake response, fire suppression, water survival, and first aid demonstrations.
This initiative underscores the ongoing advocacy for disaster preparedness and community resilience, reinforcing NDMU’s and PDRRMO’s shared commitment to building safer, well-prepared, and sustainable communities. Through continuous partnerships and training programs, both institutions actively uphold the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity in the face of disasters.
Under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., the Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to promote a culture of safety and preparedness by supporting collaborative efforts that empower students and citizens to become proactive advocates of disaster risk reduction and management.
