The Notre Dame of Marbel University welcomed distinguished leaders from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Philippine Chapter in a strategic visit aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between academia and the professional accounting community. Mr. Mark Jayson Agacer, US CMA, CSCA, CPA, CSSYB, IMA – Philippines Chapter President and Ms. Arriane Steffi Bacon, US CMA, IMA Philippine Chapter Executive Vice-President and IMA Philippines Chapter and Global Director conducted a comprehensive orientation session to BSA Accountancy and BS Management Accounting students, introducing them to the organization's mission, professional development opportunities, and global network of management accounting professionals.
During the visit, IMA Philippines leadership shared insights into the evolving landscape of management accounting and the critical role of professional certification in career advancement. Students learned about the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential, which is globally recognized as the standard for management accounting professionals, and how it can enhance their career prospects in finance, accounting, and strategic business management.
The primary objective of the visit was to explore opportunities for establishing an IMA student chapter on campus and formalizing a comprehensive university partnership. This collaboration would provide students with:
Access to professional development resources and continuing education opportunities
Networking opportunities with industry professionals and fellow students
Scholarship opportunities and financial support for CMA certification
Career guidance and mentorship programs
Participation in regional and international IMA events and competitions
This visit marks the beginning of what promises to be a mutually beneficial relationship between the Notre Dame of Marbel University and IMA Philippines. Plans are underway to establish formal agreements that will create ongoing opportunities for student engagement, faculty development, and collaborative research initiatives.
The partnership aligns with the university's strategic goals of enhancing student employability, strengthening industry connections, and maintaining relevance in professional education. For IMA Philippines, this collaboration represents an opportunity to engage with the next generation of management accounting professionals and contribute to the development of skilled practitioners in the region.
