NDMU Faculty Members Join CHEDRO XII Regional Team to Strengthen ETEEAP Assessment and Quality Assurance

Three faculty members from Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) were invited to serve as members of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDRO XII). They participated in the Orientation on ETEEAP, Micro-Credentials and Open Distance e-Learning (ODel) for CHEDRO XII Personnel and RQAT Members cum Capacity-Building on the Assessment Tools for RQAT Members, held on October 15, 2026, at Yakal Hall, Cinco Niñas, Koronadal City.

The invited NDMU faculty members were Rean May C. Galang, DBA, ETEEAP Program Coordinator and BSBA Programs Coordinator, assigned to the Business Administration programs sector; Ma. Magdalena F. Cobrador, PhD, Dean of the College of Education, assigned to the education programs sector; and Vince Marc B. Sabado, MSIT, Program Coordinator of the Computer Studies Department and the Master in Information Technology program, assigned to the Information Technology Education (ITE) programs sector.
The activity brought together RQAT members, invited faculty representatives from various higher education institutions in the region, CHEDRO XII personnel, and institutional representatives of schools currently offering ETEEAP. The gathering aimed to strengthen participants' understanding of ETEEAP implementation, micro-credentials, and ODeL, while enhancing their competencies in evaluating and assessing ETEEAP applicants through standardized assessment tools.
CHEDRO XII Regional Director Dr. Rody P. Garcia, MDM, JD, EdD, was present during the activity, underscoring the importance of capacity-building initiatives in advancing quality and accessible higher education in the region.
The orientation proper was facilitated by Dr. Annabelle R. Dafielmoto, Supervising Education Program Specialist and Lifelong Learning Focal Person of CHEDRO XII, who discussed ETEEAP and Open Distance e-Learning. Her presentations provided participants with an overview of these educational pathways and their role in expanding access to higher education and supporting lifelong learning.
Meanwhile, Mr. Danstone Guy P. Dayaday, Education Supervisor II of CHEDRO XII, delivered the orientation on micro-credentials, highlighting another approach to recognizing learning achievements and developing competencies relevant to learners' educational and professional advancement.
Following the orientation sessions, participants engaged in a workshop on ETEEAP assessment tools headed by Dr. Dafielmoto. The workshop provided a capacity-building opportunity for RQAT members to become more familiar with the assessment instruments used in evaluating applicants' prior learning, competencies, and qualifications in relation to the requirements of their respective academic programs.
Through the participation of its three faculty representatives, NDMU continues to contribute to regional initiatives that promote quality assurance, flexible learning pathways, and the recognition of prior learning in higher education. Their involvement in the CHEDRO XII activity also reflects the university's commitment to supporting the effective implementation of ETEEAP and strengthening assessment practices across academic disciplines.
As higher education institutions continue to explore more inclusive and flexible approaches to learning, the knowledge and competencies gained from the orientation and workshop are expected to support the RQAT members in carrying out their assessment responsibilities and advancing the goals of lifelong learning and accessible higher education.
