NDMU-CEAC Strengthens Community Development with Solar Lighting and Learning Facility Upgrades at Marmylone Learning Center, Lake Sebu

The College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computing (CEAC) of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) conducted a community extension project at Marmylone Learning Center, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato on August 21, 2025. The initiative was carried out in line with the university’s commitment to provide sustainable and meaningful assistance to partner communities.
The project aimed to improve the school’s facilities and learning environment. During the activity, a school buzzer was installed to support classroom management and efficient scheduling of daily routines. In addition, two solar lights were formally turned over to the school and are scheduled for installation, which will contribute to improved safety and security within the school premises.
The project was spearheaded by Engr. Rolly S. Tambe, MSCE, Acting Dean of CEAC, with faculty members Engr. Melchor M. Famisan, D.Eng.-CE, Engr. Mark Daniel B. Silva, MPhil, MSCE, Engr. Wimar Bless M. Ramping, RMP, and Engr. Eriberto B. Hallarsis, MIM. They were joined by EE and CE students Mr. Ricky Niel T. Lamputi, Mr. Alfriend Dhoniel E. Egaran and Mr. John Vincent B. Gabiazon, with the activity facilitated by Dr. Noemi Silva. Through this initiative, the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computing reaffirmed its role as a partner in community development by translating technical expertise into projects that directly address local needs.
The school community expressed their appreciation for the support, noting that the school buzzer is already making an impact in day-to-day operations. The soon-to-be-installed solar lights will further ensure a safer and more conducive learning environment.
This community extension project highlights NDMU-CEAC’s continuing commitment to outreach and service, reflecting the university’s mission of extending knowledge and resources for the benefit of society.
