Marist Youth Global Network Convenes in Rome for Strategic Planning and Preparation for the 2027 International Gathering in Seoul

The Marist Youth Global Network continues its preparations for the International Marist Youth Gathering (IMYG) 2027 in Seoul, South Korea, bringing together the different regions and branches of the Marist Family in a shared journey toward this significant global gathering of young people.

The opening meeting of the Network was graced by the presence of Br. Peter Carroll, FMS, Superior General of the Marist Brothers, whose presence affirmed the importance of young people in the life and mission of the Marist Family. His participation also highlighted the significance of listening to the voices, experiences, and aspirations of young people as the Network begins shaping the journey toward Seoul 2027.
Scheduled for July 29 to August 2, 2027, the gathering will take place shortly before World Youth Day in Seoul. Building on the experience of the 2023 International Marist Youth Meeting in Portugal, the Seoul gathering seeks to strengthen connections among young Marists, deepen their faith and Marist identity, promote intercultural encounter, and encourage young people to become active partners in the mission of the Church and the Marist Family.
Leading the preparation is the Marist Youth Global Network, composed of representatives from the different regions of the Institute: Br. Miguel Fernandes, FMS, Network Coordinator and representative of South America; Br. Andoni González, FMS, Europe; Fabíola Miranda, Arco Norte; Br. Paul Angulu, FMS, Africa; Wilter Friales, Asia; and Justin Golding, Oceania. The team also includes Bruno Manoel Socher, a specialist from South America, and Br. Niño Pizarro, FMS, Director of the Secretariat of Education and Evangelization.
The meeting aims to finalize the plans and overall direction for IMYG 2027, including its program, formation process, key activities, and preparations leading to Seoul. Through continued dialogue and collaboration, the Marist Youth Global Network hopes to shape a meaningful gathering that is rooted in the Marist mission, responsive to the realities of young people, and enriched by the diversity of the global Marist Family. More than preparing for an event, the Network seeks to build a shared journey that will enable young people from across the world to encounter one another, deepen their faith and Marist identity, and become active partners in building a more welcoming, hopeful, and inclusive Marist family.
