The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) bestowed the prestigious James J. Meany Award on Dr. Joan P. Palma in recognition of his outstanding dedication to education and quality assurance in the Philippines.
The award highlights Dr. Palma’s selfless commitment to advancing academic excellence across the country. Over the years, he has participated in more than 10 accreditation surveys and consultancy visits, offering guidance to numerous institutions seeking to strengthen their academic standards. His unwavering advocacy for accreditation has empowered member schools to refine their programs, uphold their mission, and pursue higher levels of educational quality.
The ceremony was held at the Conrad Manila in Pasay City, where PAASCU leaders and representatives from various commissions gathered to honor Dr. Palma’s contributions.
Dr. Palma currently serves as Vice President for Academics at Notre Dame of Marbel University in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, and is an active member of the PAASCU Commission on Graduate Education.
This year’s awarding took place during the PAASCU 2025 General Assembly, marking another milestone in the association’s mission to uphold excellence in Philippine education through rigorous and meaningful accreditation practices.
