In his presentation titled Advancing Teacher Quality in the Philippines: TEC’s Strategic Initiatives for 2026, Dr. Carvajal discussed the key programs and policy directions being implemented by the Teacher Education Council to strengthen the quality of teacher education across the country.

The session highlighted strategic initiatives aimed at improving teacher preparation, strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and government agencies, and ensuring that teacher education programs remain responsive to national development goals and global educational standards. Dr. Carvajal also emphasized the importance of cultivating competent, values-oriented, and future-ready educators who can effectively respond to the evolving needs of learners and communities.

Participants gained insights into how institutions can align their teacher education programs with national reforms while contributing to the broader mission of improving the quality of education in the Philippines.

The plenary session formed part of the academic discussions of the Marist Educators Congress 2026, which gathers educators, school leaders, and academic stakeholders to share perspectives and best practices in advancing teacher education and educational leadership.
