THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FINANCIAL INCENTIVE POLICY FOR INTENTION TO ADOPT: CASES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN INDONESIA, MALAYSIA AND PHILIPPINES
This study is a collaborative initiative of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), Indonesia; Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia; and Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), Philippines. As part of this collaboration, the study examines the effectiveness of financial incentive policies in relation to individuals’ intention to adopt electric vehicles, with the survey focusing on respondents in the Philippines.
The transportation sector remains a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. From 1990 to 2024, greenhouse gas emissions increased by 292% in Indonesia, 287% in Malaysia, and 190% in the Philippines, while emissions from the transportation sector increased by more than 300% in Indonesia and Malaysia and 181% in the Philippines (Crippa et al., 2025).
Electric vehicles (EVs) offer an alternative to conventional vehicles and have gained increasing attention as a more sustainable form of transportation. However, EV adoption continues to face financial, technological, and infrastructure challenges. In response, various financial incentive policies, including tax reductions, purchase subsidies, and other forms of financial support, have been introduced to support EV adoption.
We respectfully invite qualified individuals to participate in our online survey. Your participation will provide valuable insights into financial incentive policies and the intention to adopt electric vehicles in the Philippine context.
