The Student and Personnel Services of Notre Dame of Marbel University is a comprehensive support system which is committed to the integral and balanced development of Christian young men and women and which seeks to promote the spiritual, psychological and cultural growth of the student sector.
The Office of Student Affairs and Development complements the academic training of students through different growth activities focusing on improving their leadership, interpersonal relations, self-management and organizational skills.
The office also takes care of monitoring and guiding the different recognized student organizations and co- curricular activities on campus.
To date, there are 72 active recognized student organizations on campus classified into four categories, namely:
- Cultural
- Professional/Educational
- Religious
- and Civic/Service Organizations
The office ensures that the objectives and activities of various organizations are in accordance with the University Mission statement.
The office also assumes the role of promoting arts consciousness and developing students in the areas of theater, dance, music, and visual arts. Notre Dame of Marbel University has 5 cultural groups namely: Kariktan Dance Troupe, Tambuli Singers, St. Cecilia’s Choir, Dulaang Balintataw (Theatre Guild) and the NDMU Band.
In terms of Student Publication , the office ensures that press freedom is adhered to and that student writers and readers experience this freedom for as long as they do not violate the rights of others.
The office maintains the general discipline and conduct of students inside and outside of the classrooms and coordinates with various college deans and security personnel regarding student discipline. It seeks to prevent, rather than correct, unseeming behavior and sees to it that student handbook guidelines are observed.
The Sports and Athletics Office is a service unit of the university committed to help develop a well-rounded individual through sports and recreational programs.
An integrated sports development program for students allow a wide variety of physical fitness and sports competition activities.
All intramural activities of students, faculty, and staff and participation of different teams in tournaments, athletic meets, invitationals as well as SMRAA, PRISAA and PALARO, are also encouraged and given support.
The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) offers a four-semester basic and advanced training courses.
This is a mandatory requirement for all physically and mentally fit Filipino students as prerequisite for graduation in college except for those who are exempted as required by law.
With the Expanded ROTC Program, the cadet has an option to go into Civil Welfare Service (CWS), Law Enforcement Service (LES), or Military Service (MS).
Cognizant of its responsibility for developing the full potential of the individual, the University implements a comprehensive guidance program to help students develop self-understanding, decision-making skills, a system of values, awareness of other values, human relations skills, and educational and career objectives.
Among the guidance programs/services offered are: Counseling, Group Dynamics, Career Guidance, Peer Counseling, Guidance Extension and Research Programs. The office also provides information on career and job opportunities as well as company profiles to all students and graduates of the University.
The office also acts as Testing Center for some companies/establishments in the area and has been identified by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as a Community Employment Center – a satellite center of DOLE-XI.
The Student Scholarship Program gives opportunities to needy but capable young men and women to avail of educational and training programs through the assistance of the alumni and friends of NDMU, companies, government agencies and foundations.
Aside from University funded scholarship, the University has been able to increase the funds available for financial aid. |
