The University constantly strives to become an outstanding and relevant institution of higher learning and committee to provide the highest quality of advanced instruction, professional training, basic and applied research, and community service, and thereby produce outstanding scholars, practitioners and leaders in various fields.
For SY 2006-2007, the NDMU Research and Publication Center have organized and coordinated the following activities:

A research forum in relation to the findings of the UNICEF-funded research entitled, “Coping in the Context of Indigenous People (IP): A Study on the Coping Behavior of Women and Children and Young People in Selected Indigenous Ethic Communities in the Philippines” was conducted by the NDMU Peace & Development (PD) Center on November 20, 2006 at the NDMU Library discussion room.
The said research was conducted by the Psychosocial Support and Children’s Right Resource Center (PST-CRRC) in 3 barangays of Tampakan, South Cotabato.
The forum, which would help chart out the response of the University to the plight of the B’laan community in the mountains of Tampakan, South Cotabato was attended by several NDMU administrators and members of the faculty.

To coach teachers of a particular “how to” of teaching and enable them to engage in intellectual pursuits and become continuous learners, a session on Action Research: Conceptualizing the Research Problem, was organized by the NDMU Research and Publication Center.
Facilitated by Dr. Noemi B. Silva, NDMU Academic Vice-President, the session was divided into two parts. The first part tackled on the basics of action research while the second part focused on workshops for research problem conceptualization and data collection instruments identification.
The Integrated Basic Education (IBED) department took part in the seminar-workshop with fifty eight (58) participants on July 26, 2006 held at the NDMU Alumni Center. On august 4, 2006, forty eight (48) participants from the Business, Nursing, and Education colleges followed.
Correspondingly, on August 25, 2006, thirteen (13) participants from the Natural Science, Agriculture, and Math departments also took part in the seminar-workshop.
- Dr. Grace Vicente presented a paper entitled “Enhancement of Problem-Solving Skills in Chemical Equilibrium Theory: A Modified Network Approach and Teacher Education” during the International Conference on Teacher Education with the theme “Quest for Quality in Teacher Education” on June 30-July 2, 2004 at the Holiday Inn Galleria Manila, Pasig City.
NDMU CHED-ZRC Hosts 2nd Vis-Min Inter-Zonal Research Congress
Attended by two hundred forty nine (249) delegates from different HEIs all over Visayas and Mindanao, the 2nd Inter-Zonal Research Congress for Visayas and Mindanao held last September 19-22, 2006 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City was a huge success. As host of the event, NDMU President Bro. Wilfredo E. Lubrico, FMS graced the opening ceremony to welcome the participants.
Seventeen (17) delegates from NDMU participated in the said congress, three of whom took part in the Best Poster competition.

Dr. Leandro M. Sanchez, NDMU faculty and the Best Poster winner in last year’s 1st Inter-Zonal Research Congress for Visayas and Mindanao for his research entitled, Indicator Plant: A Diagnostic Tool for Early Detection of Pineapple Pink Disease in the Field, was member of the board of judges for this year’s competition.
