Ms. Elma B. Rafil, the NDMU Personnel Officer, represented the East Asia Lay Commission in the meeting of the Continental Commission at Notre-Dame de L’Hermitage in St. Chammond, Loire, France on October 3-8, 2016. The meeting was a gathering of the Brothers and laity coming from the different continents. Br. Emili Turu, the Superior General of the Marist Brothers, invited the participants to reflect on the ways on how the charismatic family of Marists could contribute to the new beginning. He further encouraged the participants “to be surprised by the newness of the Spirit.”
The meeting envisioned to enhance the laity’s sense of internationality throughout the Institute to strengthen the international animation structure as well as to come up with a framework for Marist Lay identity. The meeting also tackled theupdate on the process of the Champagnat Movement of the Marist Family.
Marist family. The participants shared their experiences and offered proposals for the General Chapter in order to promote the greater vitality of the Marist Charism in a future of communion and shared responsibility towards the “new beginning.”
